A hot runner is a heating component system used in injection molds to inject melted plastic particles into the mold cavity.

The hot runner ensures that the plastic in the runner and gate remains in a molten state by heating. The hot runner system generally consists of several parts, including a hot nozzle, a splitter plate, a temperature control box, and accessories, including an open hot nozzle and a needle valve hot nozzle. Due to the fact that the form of the hot nozzle directly determines the selection of the hot runner system and the manufacturing of the mold, the hot runner system is often divided into an open hot runner system and a needle valve hot runner system accordingly.

Many plastic mold manufacturers may be unfamiliar with the term "hot runner system", but insiders are all familiar with it. The hot runner plays a very important role in production molding. The hot runner system is a combination. It does not refer to individual products. It includes a hot nozzle, a runner plate, a temperature controller, a splitter plate, and so on. These together form the hot runner system.

As a common component of injection molding systems, heating is used to ensure that the plastic in the runner and gate remains in a molten state. Due to the presence of heating rods and heating rings near or in the center of the flow channel, the entire flow channel from the nozzle outlet of the injection molding machine to the gate is in a high-temperature state, keeping the plastic in the flow channel molten. After shutdown, there is no need to open the flow channel to remove the condensate. When restarting, only heat the flow channel to the required temperature.
